This modernist silver ring has a mosaic, inlaid design - almost like a piece of framed sculpture. The rectangular frame is 15/16ths x 3/4" Within, is a highly detailed pierced and abstract design. On the back it is marked 800 and K&L. (800 silver is 80 parts silver (as opposed to sterling which is 92.5 part silver) but consequently is stronger and well suited for rings and bracelets. Sterling silver abstract earrings by Vera Allison. Born in 1902, she worked as a commercial artist after graduating from UC Berkeley. She subsequently became a painter and jewelry designer and died in 1986. These earrings are constructed as a folded piece of silver with one shiny side and the larger side finished with a matte textured finish. With screwbacks, these could be converted to pierced earrings if desired. Excellent condition, signed and 1 1/4 inch long.
