This crystalline studio pottery vase is by Maria Philippi, born in 1927. The glaze is superb with its exquisite muted colors which seamlessly blend. Philippi studied with Hubert Griemert and Monika Maetzel and also worked for Annemarie and Werner Schmidt-Tummeley. Between 1962-1964 she worked for Soholm in Denmark.

Beautifully hand wrought ceramic studio bowl. The rich glossy glaze which covers the top and inside of the piece subtly ranges across a palette of browns and tans and has a highly craqueled surface. The outer rim of the bowl gracefully slopes downward over the base. This is hand signed BS on the bottom. Well executed and very attractive, it stands 2 1/2 inches tall and is 11 inches in diameter.
Fantastical pottery object; German studio piece. Signed but maker unknown. In varying hues of beiges, tans and browns, the piece has mushroom like shapes sprouting around the mouth. Studio pottery vase by Horst Kerstan who is considered one of the major ceramic artists of the 20th century. He studied with Richard Bampi in Kandern and then took over his studio when Bampi died in 1965. This piece has a beautifully applied crystalline glaze of contrasting backgrounds and is just over 6" tall. Excellent condition.
Wonderful, mid century vase by Lu Klopfer. This pattern with it's vibrant color palette is probably his best known and was done in many sizes and shapes. Reminiscent of Guido Gambone, he may very likely have been influenced by him. The vase stands 9 1/2 inches tall and is in excellent condition.(one glaze pop incurred during production)

Wonderful and rare tile by H Schaffenacker who established his studio in 1948 in Ulm, Germany. He created many striking ceramic vases and the designs of his tiles/wall plaques vary from the completely abstract to highly stylized figures of horses, people, fish and other forms found in nature.
