| This modernist sterling silver and amethyst necklace is a beautifully designed and executed piece from Henkel & Grosse of Germany which was founded in 1907. This highly sculptural pendant composed of textured pieces of silver interspersed with silver wires contains 5 cabachon amethysts. 3 of the stones are approximately 5mm x 7mm and the other two are slightly smaller. The pendant itself is 2 1/4" by 2 3/8" and is suspended from a neckring which is open at the back thereby allowing some flexibility in sizing. The piece is marked Grosse, Germany, 1970 and the matching ring from Tadema Gallery can be seen on page 282 of Schiffer's Silver Jewelry Designs. It is also marked S925, so perhaps it had been made for the export market (Denmark or Norway). This has a contemporary look despite it's age and looks stunning on. | |||||||||
