| Stunning art nouveau,(jugendstil) signed gold ring set with an old mine cut diamond and a pearl. In Germany, jugendstil was the equivalent to the French art nouveau style. Less fantastical and curvilinear it still shared many characteristics with art nouveau. With a naturalistic design typical of the period, this is adorned with leaves and small beads of gold; the sides are adorned with tendrils. The top of the ring is 14mm x 18mm. It is marked inside the shank 585 and MACKEL (with an umlaut over the A) which would be the maker's mark. In excellent condition, the ring is a 7 3/4 and could be resized without losing the marks. | |||||||||
