| These vases are by master ceramicist Mathies Schwarze. Schwarze trained in Germany with many of the most preeminent mid-century ceramic artists. Now based in Switzerland, he has been working since the 1960s and has his own school as well. The tall blue crystalline vase is 14 1/2 inches tall and while predominately blue has the brown/ocher contrasts found on much of his work. (the vase may be appear to be listing in the first picture - it's just the table surface it was on.) The second piece has what I think of as an orange peel type surface with very subtle shifts of color..browns, ochers, rusts, maroons. It is 13 3/4" tall and in excellent condition, except for a subtle "dimple" that occurred during the glazing process. It is pictured and measures 3/4 of an inch - it does not detract but is mentioned for accuracy. | ||||||||||||||
